Charter of uk.business.payroll

(Not Moderated)

uk.business.payroll is for discussion of all aspects of the payroll business function and other closely related subjects, as applicable to the UK. Examples include, but are not limited to, PAYE, National Insurance (as it relates to employment), payment of expenses, benefits in kind, employment law as it relates to payroll, statutory reporting and computerised payroll software issues.

Discussion of personal financial matters are off-topic, as are non-employment pay issues such as self-employment, except to clarify what is, and what isn't, the responsibility of payroll.

With the exception of PGP signatures, the posting of binaries or other encoded data files (e.g. pictures, word processor files, .zip files, "business cards", HTML etc.) is not permitted. However references to relevant web URLs or FTP sites are welcome.

Advertisers must be UK based, not post more than once every two months (short postings announcing changes are permitted, however). Advertisements should be no more than 20 lines in length and be of direct relevance to the group (i.e. to do with the payroll function). Commercial advertisers should clearly and explicitly state their commercial nature in the text of their advertisement. A company reference in a signature, not exceeding four lines, is acceptable at all times.

Excessive crossposting is inappropriate. Posters are requested to restrict their crossposting to no more than four newsgroups in total, all of which should be directly relevant to the topic of the post.

Anyone posting contrary to this charter may be reported to their postmaster and or ISP.
