Charter of uk.comp.certification

(Not Moderated)

uk.comp.certification is a group aimed at a wide, but not specifically technical discussion of the vendor certifications within the UK IT industry.

This group is for the discussion of the certification issues, such as how to prepare and what value the certification holds and is designed for those who have attained or are studying for certifications. Advocacy, for or against an OS, application, vendor, etc. is also unwelcome.

Discussion of training courses, Computer Based Training (CBT) material, study guides and useful resources in the Internet is also acceptable.

Finally, this is not intended as a forum for technical questions. The discussion of real or possible exam questions is forbidden. Posters should also bear in mind any NDA to which they agree to in relation to any test. Posters should expect that any Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) violations may be noticed or brought to the attention of the appropriate vendors. Breaking an NDA may lead to serious consequences, including (but not limited to) the removal of any certifications held by the person involved.

Advertising

Advertising is forbidden, with the following exception: Advertisements for text books, learning materials or courses which deal with Certification or closely related matters are permitted. These may not exceed four lines and may be posted no more often than once every three months. The subject line MUST begin "AD:" or "ADVERT:".

It should be remembered that some test taking aids prohibit resale or transfer in the license agreement. Offering for sale any product against the terms of it's license agreement is strictly and specifically prohibited.

Advertisements for employment (permanent or contract) opportunities are also forbidden.

Binaries

All posts must be made in plain text; HTML and other types of formatted text are forbidden. Posting URLs of relevant Internet sites, where appropriate, is encouraged.

With the explicit exception of Crypto signatures (e.g. PGP), all encoded binaries are forbidden. Forbidden binaries include, but are not limited to: pictures, sounds, word processor documents, executable programs and "business cards".

The use of cryptographic message signing should be limited to formal announcements and other such messages where provable authentication is felt by the poster to be required. Posters are asked to keep both the use and size of such signing to a minimum.

Posting URLs of relevant Internet Sites, where appropriate, is encouraged.
