Charter of uk.people.polyamorous

(Not Moderated)

uk.people.polyamorous is intended for the discussion and support of polyamorous lifestyles. Polyamourous is "multiple loving" - having loving, honest relationships with more than one lover at a time. "Discussion" is non-abusive debate, in this case of polyamorous things; support is advice, announcements, pleas for help, and inconsequential messages (fluff) that help to build a feeling of community.

It is not intended for discussion of matters from one of the polyamorous backgrounds unless they relate directly to polyamorous lifestyles. So, for example, the words of a neopagan marriage ritual might be on-topic because the vows are polyamorous, but discussion of the secret meaning of Beltaine probably wouldn't be.

Similarly it is intended for issues relevant to polyamorous residents of the UK (and their friends, partners and families). Contributions from non-UK folks are welcome if they have a direct bearing on that, but alt.polyamory remains the preferred forum for comparing polyamorous lifesyles in different countries.

Advertising is forbidden, except for specifically polyamorous, non-profit-making social events. Commercial advertising and "personal ads" - advertisements seeking relationships - are forbidden.

Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are forbidden. Such material belongs on a web or ftp site to which a pointer may be posted, or on a binaries newsgroup. Cryptographic signatures (e.g. PGP) may be used where authentication is important and should be as short as possible.

Posts must be readable as plain text. HTML, RTF and similarly formatted messages are prohibited. To see how to make your news reader comply with this, read <http://www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html>.
